Times passed by so quickly that it had just dawned on me there are no longer anymore ES2007 lessons. It is by no means an exaggeration when I say that ES2007 is my favourite module of all time since my matriculation into NUS.
ES2007 is the only module that I had taken where I have been able to communicate freely and got to know each and every classmate of mine quite well. I enjoy the process of making many new good friends. I like the fact that my classmates are all spontaneous, friendly and rather passionate people. Brad have also been an excellent facilitator and a good slave-driver in motivating(forcing) us to do work :).
I must also state that the module is not all fun as the workload has been quite heavy. This is especially true for the proposal and the oral presentation. I often find myself working against time to complete the assigned work promptly and with quality. There are also moments where I feel the module has never ending work, when one is completed another piece of assignment would surface. It got stressful at times!
However, the module has been extremely useful in my point of view and I have certainly learnt a lot from this course. Almost all of what I have learnt in this course would come in useful in the future, e.g. in my career. I wish I could say the same for many other modules that I have taken.
I would cherish the many moments I experienced in the timespan of taking this module and reminiscent upon those happy times!

Hi Ken Jie,
ReplyDeleteI've to agree that this module is pretty taxing. The workload is quite heavy, but in exchange for no exams, i think it's quite worth it. Besides, the work done feels more useful than written exams. I wonder what they used to ask in exams before.
Other modules are also useful in your future career! You can't be an engineer without all your EExxxx modules. haha.
Cya around for the next semester!!
Hey Ken Jie,
ReplyDeleteI agree that this module has had its ups and downs. Been struggling with ES2007S too and I think that it's worth it :) I also agree that this module seems more useful than some other compulsory core modules (especially those Math ones). Haha!
Anyway, thanks for being part of the vibrant and entertaining class! The time I spent in ES2007S would be treasured in my memories too.
Wishing you joy and luck!
Abigail
Boo, no more ES2007S lessons = No more Ken Jie’s cold jokes! (Fortunately, there is still Facebook!) I totally agree with you that ES2007S is the favourite module for most students who have taken this module. As for the facilitator part, it really depends on how you want to see things. In a nutshell, Brad has to force us to do work, otherwise we all would simply just slack and be as soft as tofu in class, looking at each other blankly.
ReplyDeleteHa, again another bull’s eye! Workload is heavy, in my opinion too, and I really hope that it can be lightened so that future batches can really benefit the soft skills that can be acquired from this fantastic module. Endless blogging, endless report writing, endless research… but endless interaction and perhaps a never-ending friendship among all of us. =)
Indeed, the module is going to benefit us a lot in future and definitely for me, who will be going into the teaching force after graduation. (Sigh) Ken Jie, thanks for being a good accomplice of lame jokes and stupid jokes in class, otherwise it will be rather stern and Sarah would have killed me for telling her all the silly and boring jokes! =D Facebook!
Regards,
Ivan
Hey Ken Jie!
ReplyDeleteI do agree with you that the workload for this module is a killer. BUT ironically, I actually kind of make use of this module as a stress relief for me! :P For example, when I'm stressed studying for my CAs, I would take a break and rest by commenting on people's blog posts like what I'm doing now! :P So I guess it's not that bad? HAHA!
In any case, I will always remember you for putting the photo of your girlfriend on your laptop all the time! HAHA! It's sweet of you! :P All the best for your exams dude!
Haha thanks all for the feedback and comments! Dun worry I will miss all of you. Dun be sad Ivan dear you can call me anytime ok *winks*.
ReplyDeleteHi Ken Jie,
ReplyDeleteThe timeline for proposal was a tight one. The work was indeed never-ending and that moment of relief after our oral presentation was priceless.
Like you, I will definitely cherish the moments I had in this module. It is indeed one of the happier ones in NUS. (from the academic point of view.)
All the best!

Hello KenJie aka my fellow facebook camper!
ReplyDeleteI have to agree with you about getting stressed up over ES2007S deadlines but we did have fun throughout the semester, didn't we! You definitely did not look like you were stressed though - you were always the one cracking not-so-funny-but-funny-in-a-way jokes out of randomness!
Will definitely remember you and like what Sarah said, I will always remember your girlfriend's picture on your laptop's desktop too! Haha! Keep in touch!
Cheers, Yuan Ru
Hi KenJie!
ReplyDeleteHard to believe that ES2007s is over huh? It is also hard to believe that this will probably be among one of my last few comments I will make on a blog…
I agree with you that the people in our class really made the module that much more fun! And having Brad as a tutor was equally fantastic.
Well KenJie, thank you for all the feedback you have given me on my blog posts, it was great fun working with you, Evonne and WenJun on those group activities! You know you always have this funny lopsided smile when one of us says something stupid! Haha
See you around school k, and we should meet up once the dreaded finals are over.
xo,
Sheryl
Hi Ken Ken,
ReplyDeleteLike you, I feel that ES2007S by far my favourite module in NUS. As they say, great minds think alike (not forgetting the corollary that fools seldom differ).
I couldn't agree more with your analysis that it is partly because Brad has facilitated interaction in the class which makes the module so memorable. The other part of the equation would be the colourful characters that constitute our class.
You are really a refreshing character as you seem to have a quip for almost every situation. I hope some of your quick wit rubs off on me and it has been a pleasure to work with you.
One thing you may need to take note of is that people who don't know you well may take your good-natured humour the wrong way. I remember when I first started working with you and was the butt of some of your jokes, I thought you were really spiteful. It was only after I got to know you better that I recognised that you don't mean the harsh words that occasionally slip from your mouth.
Although ES2007S is over, I trust that we will still meet again (If not, I will come to your house and stalk you.) Good luck for your FYP and exams!
Thank you very much, Ken Jie, for your appreciation expressed in this post. Wow! Favorite module of all time? Don't spread that opinion too far. It may be hard for us to live up to that billing for everyone! You might have felt that way because our group was so special, or as Wen Jun rightly recognized in his comment to you, "the colourful characters that constitute our class."
ReplyDeleteYou guys made it happen, despite the heavy workload. I appreciate that, Ken Jie, as I do your fine effort and very congenial nature. Keep up the positive attitude, man, and you'll achieve exactly what you want to achieve.
All the best with that!
